IBU Library
International Balkan University maintains a single shared library for 5 faculties and 7 departments. The library
system works according to open-shelf and free-access method. Students and faculty members can search in the
library freely at any time during the working hours. They also can make online search from offices, homes, or in
person using 2 computers set up for on-line search purposes in the library. To do so, it is merely enough to enter
title of the book or name of author. It is easier access to all the books once they type the subject.
Since IBU is an English medium University, most of the books are in English. It is expected to increase the
number of the books in the coming years, and that English books seem to take the precedence of all.

number increases every year. So far, total number of books has reached 3350 pieces. There are 65 periodic and
59 reference works in the library. Daily newspapers and weekly magazines are offered to students’ use in
cafeteria. Total students course text book number is 2686. All together library has 6036 books.
The library has allocated to purchase 350 new books for 7 departments each year in order to enlarge the
capacity. For 2012-2013 academic year, it is planned to purchase the books for 4000 Euros.
Faculty and students are required to open an account and register in order to borrow books and take
advantage of the library system. They are given user name and password in this process, and then are
authorized to get access to library catalog. Library system also is tasked with collection and distribution of
course books for scholarship students. At the beginning of the semester the text books are distributed to
students free of charge and collected back in the semester end. The University spends an amount of 12,000
euros for the course text books in support of scholarship students every year.
The University library is included in "online library system". Through this system, it is possible to search the
sources connected to other universities.
As for graduate students and out-processing teaching staff, they are required to obtain a document of “no debt”
and prove it to the library: otherwise, graduation diploma cannot be issued or out-process is not finalized.
