Graphic Design Lab

Students on the Graphic Design make extensive use of computers in their coursework
and everyday lives.
We can proudly announce that we have acquired 20 computers with solid hardware
configuration and respective software for teaching the broad range of graphic design
courses. We arranged two rooms, placed in Kale building, equiped with computers.
One computer room is equiped with 8 desktop computers, and is used for classroom
teaching and practical assignements of the students. For learning purposes, all
computers are provided with Internet connection.
Another room - a graphic design computer laboratory is fully equiped with 11 desktop
computers, featuring a number of various softwares for teaching students in designing
the variety of media (web pages, multimedia, magazines, posters, flyers, books,
animations, brochures, newspaper, visit card e.t.c). All computers have instal: Adobe
Photoshop, CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Flash, Autodesk 3ds
max, Autodesk Maya, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Adobe Dreamweaver e.t.c.
In addition, a HP color digital printer and a high resolution black-and-white printer are
available for printing and publishing the students works.
With the onset of digital technology an electronic media, the computer has become
an important tool for visualizing ideas quickly and efficiently. In the hands of a skilled
operator the computer can be used as a tool for exploring a wider range of options at
greater speed. To underline this principle, students will be encouraged to plan initial
ideas and solve graphic problems, using the computer, to realize those ideas and
explore them further.
The Computing Laboratory aspires to be a leader in enabling technologies and software
for scientific computing. Our vision is to provide high performance tools to tackle
science’s most challenging problems and to play a major role in the development of
standards for scientific computing in general.
The ability to express an idea or concept visually in a graphic medium is an important
stage in the process from the conception to the realization of the idea. Visualization is
the means by which the author of the idea can articulate the concept to a third party
or describe and explain the idea to another specialist who may be involved with its
production.
The primary aim of modules in computer labaratory will be to equip students with the
skills required to visualize their ideas and concepts using digital media. Students will
also learn accompanying computer skills and use of appropriate packages and software
that will enable them to achieve this aim and visualize their ideas to a high level of finish
The Computing Laboratory are open for students to work every working day (Monday-
Friday 8:15 - 16:15) when there are no classes in it.
