Video Room or Self Access Room
One of the premises that serves students’ needs from the ELPP is the Video Room. It is located on the lower floor of the building and it is equipped with all the necessary audio-visual equipment in order to function as a Video Room: a computer with internet access, a projector, video screen, a small whiteboard, and many comfortable chairs. ELPP students can use the Video Room at any time for any of their educational needs when they are at the university. For this reason the Video Room is known as a self-access learning room as well.
Students can pick among many film titles given to their choice. The films are available and easy to access since they are stored on the computer memory. The film list has been made and modified during the years by the students themselves and it contains more than 150 films and still counting. All the films are decent content and correspond to a verity of the students’ tastes. They range from documentaries and history films to romantic, comedies and SF films.
As it was mentioned before, the Video Room can serve as a self-access learning room which provides the students with an opportunity to study independently and cultivate the habit of self-learning. They can also freely practice their PP presentations, group projects or debate/ discussion preparations given as assignments before. The self-access learning room promotes learning centered approach, learners’ autonomy and self directed learning.
