The Proficiency Exam is an end-of-course test that assesses the achievement as well as the language proficiency of the learner. The level of achievement depends on the accumulated knowledge during the course (which consists of the mastered study skills and language skills); while the proficiency level depends on what the student can do/knows in relation to the application of the subject in the real world/academic environment. The student has to have reached level B1-B2 (intermediate, upper-intermediate) in all skills, in order to be considered that he/she is ready to enter the 1st year at university. The test consists of 7 parts: grammar, vocabulary, use of English, reading, listening, writing, and speaking. The success of the student largely depends on the continuous assessment which includes: note-taking, strategies for reading textbooks/novels, using reference sources, preparing projects, oral presentations, etc.
