The success story of the International Balkan University began in 2006. The Foundation for Education and Culture “USKUP” was founded by a group of intellectuals and academicians (scholars) to establish the INTERNATIONAL BALKAN UNIVERSITY as a cultural bridge between the Balkans and Turkey, with the intent of increasing the quality level of human capital in the region.
As a provider of high-quality education, International Balkan University has adopted the mission of educating self-confident, multidimensional, socially responsible and globally competitive individuals. In addition, the university produces high-quality scientific research that will contribute to technological and economic development in the region. Brankica Ivanova completed her undergraduate studies in English language and literature at the Ss Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje and she is currently working on master thesis in Methodology of English language teaching. She taught General English to adults in several private language schools in Skopje and ESP (Financial, Legal, Business English, English for international communication) for the requirements of many state institutions among which the Government of RM, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, custom-made ESP courses for private companies such as Acibadem Sistina, T-Home, Macedonian Chambers of Commerce, SEAVUS, McDonalds) and Exam English (FCE, TOEFL, IETLS, BEC, ILEC) to students between 2002 and 2014. In 2002 she worked as a volunteer camp counselor with socially underprivileged children and families at social risk in Los Angeles, California. In 2005 she obtained a Certificate for Certified Court Translator from Macedonian into English language and vice versa (accredited by Department of Justice of Macedonia). In 2008 she became a certified inspector for Quality Language Services conducted at private language schools issued by EQUALS through its Accredited Member -MAQS. Between 2010 and 2014 she worked as a Director of studies in the private language school ESP in Skopje and worked as a translator and interpreter from 2006 to 2014 on a number of projects such as Market Surveillance Project, UNDP’s Projects, IOM, EBRD, European Agency for Occupational Safety and Health, AEC,etc. She has also been part of the team of translators who worked on translation of documents related to harmonization of the Macedonian legislation to EU acquis implemented by the Secretariat of European Affairs. She was also one of the four collaborators in a project funded by the British Council for creation of a syllabus for preparation of the Aptis Test in 2014. Since 2014 she has been working at the International Balkan University in Skopje as an English language lecturer.
