The success story of the International Balkan University began in 2006. The Foundation for Education and Culture “USKUP” was founded by a group of intellectuals and academicians (scholars) to establish the INTERNATIONAL BALKAN UNIVERSITY as a cultural bridge between the Balkans and Turkey, with the intent of increasing the quality level of human capital in the region.
As a provider of high-quality education, International Balkan University has adopted the mission of educating self-confident, multidimensional, socially responsible and globally competitive individuals. In addition, the university produces high-quality scientific research that will contribute to technological and economic development in the region. With this mission in mind, International Balkan University aims to become a renowned international educational institution that sees cultural diversity as an asset, and that contributes to the development and stability of the Balkans by producing the best professional individuals who are ready to compete in the workforce.

I was born in 1972 (Vlora, Albania). I received my Diploma Degree in Physics (5-years study program, “Physicist”) from University of Tirana (Tirana, Albania), in 1996. I was born in 1972 (Vlora, Albania). I received my Diploma Degree in Physics (5-years study program, “Physicist”) from University of Tirana (Tirana, Albania), in 1996. During 1996-1997, I was appointed as Teaching Assistant at Department of Physics, University of Tirana (Tirana, Albania). Then, I received my M.Sc. Degree in Physics from Siegen University (Siegen, Germany), in 2000. During 2000-2001, I have been a post-graduate student at Max-Planck Institute of Biophysics (Frankfurt am Main, Germany). In 2005, I received my Ph.D. Degree in Physics from Manchester Metropolitan University (Manchester, UK). During 2001-2005, I have been working as Teaching Assistant at University of Coventry (Coventry, UK) and Manchester Metropolitan University (Manchester, UK). I have several years of Postdoctoral experience: 2008- 2009, I was Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Center for Drug Design, University of Minnesota (Minneapolis, USA); 2006-2008, I was Postdoctoral Research Associate at Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, Arizona State University (Tempe, USA); during 2005, I was Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Institute of Nanotechnology (Edmonton, Canada). Then, in 2009, I joined the International Balkan University (Skopje, Republic of Macedonia), as an Assistant Professor at Department of Information Technology. From April 2014, I have been re-elected as Associate Professor at Department of Computer Engineering, International Balkan University. I have also a position as an Adjunct Professor at Department of Physics, State University of Tetovo. Currently, I am the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at International Balkan University. My research is focused on understanding the structure, dynamics, and thermodynamics of (bio)molecular systems. I am also interested in understanding the role of electrostatics in the thermodynamic properties of proteins.
