IBU Economics Students Gain Real-World Insights During National Bank Field Visit

Second-year students from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at International Balkan University (IBU) participated in an educational field visit to the National Bank of the Republic of North Macedonia (NBRM), where they attended a specialized lecture in applied macroeconomics.

Organized as part of the Macroeconomics course, under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luljeta Sadiku and Asst. Edita Mustafa, the visit aimed to bridge academic learning with real-world economic applications.

The lecture was delivered by Mr. Gani Ramadani, MSc, Deputy Director of the Monetary Policy and Research Department, on the topic "Inflation: A Global Challenge for Central Banks." During the session, students gained valuable practical insights into the complexities of inflation—one of the most pressing issues faced by central banks worldwide.

Mr. Ramadani emphasized the critical role of central banks in maintaining price stability and promoting sustainable economic growth through carefully crafted monetary policies and targeted inflation control. The presentation was further enriched with up-to-date data highlighting inflation trends and fluctuations across the European Union, the Balkan region, and North Macedonia.

Following the lecture, students toured the Museum of the National Bank, where they explored the evolution of monetary systems and their influence on social and economic development. The visit offered a unique opportunity to understand how history, culture, and societal values have shaped currency design and monetary symbolism over time.

This field experience reflects IBU’s ongoing commitment to providing students with academically rigorous and practically relevant learning opportunities that prepare them for real-world challenges in economics and public policy.
