International Balkan University (IBU), in collaboration with YESKAD – Yenilikçi Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma Derneği, has successfully completed the Erasmus+ KA152-YOU project titled “Young People’s Cultural Heritage Journey” in Skopje, North Macedonia. Supported by the Turkish National Agency, the project was coordinated by IBU’s Projects and Research Office, ensuring active participation of students throughout the entire process.
The week-long program brought together young participants from various countries to explore, discuss, and reflect on the importance of cultural heritage in today’s globalized world. Through cultural presentations, interactive workshops, street activities, and creative group work, participants deepened their understanding of cultural heritage and its transmission to future generations.
Facilitators from both IBU and YESKAD worked diligently to ensure each day was rich with intercultural learning, collaboration, and creativity. Project highlights included the “Cultural Heritage Transfer Exhibition”, street interviews with local residents, and the production of short films under the theme “Let’s Recognize and Protect Our Cultural Heritage.” These activities provided participants with practical experience in field research, media production, and intercultural dialogue.
On the final day, participants visited the International Balkan University campus. The campus tour was guided by Dr. Sümeyye Açıkgöz, Head of the Projects and Research Office. During the visit, participants had the opportunity to explore classrooms, workshops, design studios, and other facilities. The tour offered insight into the university’s academic structure and its ongoing support for international youth projects.
The successful completion of the “Young People’s Cultural Heritage Journey” project once again highlights IBU’s commitment to promoting youth engagement, preserving cultural identity, and strengthening international cooperation through the Erasmus+ framework.
