Asst. Prof. Dr. Mare Ushkovska from the Department of Political Science, IBU Faculty of Law, attended the 28th IPSA World Congress of Political Science, the largest global gathering of political scientists, in 2025.
The International Political Science Association (IPSA) is an international scholarly association, founded under the auspices of UNESCO in 1949 and devoted to the advancement of political science in all parts of the world. The World Congress is a highly selective, prestigious academic event that IPSA organizes every two years. This year’s IPSA World Congress under the theme “Resisting Autocratization in Polarized Societies” was a record-breaking event that brought together 3,370 participants from over 95 nations. It took place in the COEX Convention and Exhibition Centre in Seoul, South Korea.
During the conference, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ushkovska presented her research on the relationship between populism and public attitudes in the Visegrad Group countries, which is currently pending publication. She also took the opportunity to network with colleagues from different universities around the world.
The Congress delivered both intellectual depth and policy impact. One of the highlights of the Congress was a plenary speech by Ban Ki-moon, former UN Secretary-General. The Opening Ceremony of the Congress was attended by the President of the Republic of Korea, while the Closing Ceremony included an address by the Speaker of the National Assembly.
