International Balkan University announces* an important update regarding tuition fee payments, effective from the 2025/2026 Academic Year.
As part of our efforts to ensure financial sustainability, preserve the quality of education, and continue investing in modern academic infrastructure, all tuition fee payments will be made in Euro (€), based on the tuition fees applicable at the time of the student's initial enrollment in their academic program.
*This announcement is for those students who are currently paying their Tuition Fees in Turkish Lira (₺)
This change applies to:
- Students who initially registered by paying in Turkish Lira (₺),
- Students who later switched to Turkish Lira payments under the "Support for Turkish Lira" campaign.
Why This Change Is Being Made
The decision to allow Turkish Lira payments was introduced during a period of extreme exchange rate fluctuations to protect students from financial hardship. However, this temporary measure has become a challenge over time, making it difficult for the University to meet rising operational costs and maintain the quality of services.
Furthermore:
- Most students who benefited from Turkish Lira payments have now graduated, while a few remain enrolled.
- As per university policy, students who exceed the standard duration of their studies lose eligibility for scholarships and discounts.
- The widening fee disparity between Euro and Turkish Lira payers—despite equal access to educational services—has led to growing concerns over fairness within the student body.
Details for Affected Students
Students affected by this update will now pay their tuition in Euro, as calculated by the Finance and Accounting Office. The updated amount has been reflected in each student's financial portfolio.
To support this transition, the University is offering a 15% discount for the 2025/2026 academic year. Additionally, students may pay their tuition in two installments—in September and January.
Students who have only two or fewer courses remaining for graduation will only be charged course-based fees.
