The International Balkan University has officially launched the scientific project titled “Nutritional Behaviors, pH of Saliva, and Blood Glucose Monitoring as a Biomarker of Predisposition to Diseases in the Balkan Region.” The first stage of field work has been successfully completed, marking an important milestone in IBU’s efforts to advance regional research in public health and early disease detection.

Led by Asst. Prof. Dr. Aksu Samet, the project aims to explore the relationship between nutritional habits, oral health and overall well-being by analysing salivary pH and blood glucose levels as early indicators of potential disease risk. The Project and Research Office coordinated the launch and operational processes, officially approving and initiating the field work phase.

The opening day took place with the participation of Rector Prof. Dr. Lutfi Sunar, Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Ibish and Vice-Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Katerina Mitevska Petrusheva, accompanied by Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seyhan Murtezan Ibrahimi and the heads of IBU’s administrative units. Their presence underscores the University’s strong institutional commitment to supporting scientific advancement and community health initiatives.

In the upcoming period, the project will continue with the active involvement of volunteer students and dedicated University staff, contributing to ongoing scientific progress and strengthening IBU’s role in promoting research-based insights for public well-being.
