Following the successful completion of the virtual component, the on-campus phase of the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) “Digital Transformation of English Language Teaching: Teaching Vocabulary and Writing in the Age of Digital Tools and AI” was launched on 24 November at International Balkan University.

The opening day began with inspiring welcome addresses from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Katerina Mitevska-Petrusheva, Vice-Rector for Projects and Research, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mare Ushovska, Erasmus+ Institutional Coordinator, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Igballe Miftari-Fetishi, Dean of the Faculty of Education. We were also proud to host presentations from our partner universities: the University of Niš (Serbia), the University of Białystok (Poland), Necmettin Erbakan University (Türkiye), and the National University of Science and Technology Politehnica (Romania). Participants then joined a guided campus tour and enjoyed an engaging start to a week dedicated to innovation, collaboration, and the future of English language teaching.

The second day of the programme focused on collaboration, creativity, and the future of vocabulary teaching. Participants formed international teams, got to know their group members, and discussed their pre-arrival tasks. Prof. Dr. Ana Kechan delivered an insightful workshop on teaching vocabulary, outlining key lesson stages and effective classroom activities. The session “AI in Vocabulary Acquisition,” delivered by Assistant Neslihan Ademi, introduced practical examples of digital and AI tools and demonstrated how they can be integrated into every stage of a vocabulary lesson. The day continued with group work, as students designed vocabulary activities and received feedback from Asst. Prof. Dr. Marija Stevkovska.

The third day was dedicated to enhancing writing instruction through practical workshops and digital innovation. Prof. Dr. Ana Kechan led a workshop on teaching writing, offering a structured recap of lesson stages and sample activities tailored to each stage. In the session “AI in Writing Acquisition,” Assistant Neslihan Ademi presented digital and AI-supported writing tools and explored how they can be embedded into each phase of a writing lesson. Under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Dr. Marija Stevkovska, participants continued with collaborative group work, developing writing activities and refining their ideas through constructive feedback.

The final working day of the BIP showcased the creativity, teamwork, and innovation of our participants as they presented their project work. Students shared their lesson plan designs and classroom activities developed throughout the week, demonstrating how digital tools and AI can meaningfully enhance vocabulary and writing instruction. These presentations reflected thoughtful planning, strong pedagogical insight, and an inspiring level of digital creativity.

We concluded the Blended Intensive Programme with a warm closing ceremony, where participants received certificates in recognition of their engagement, collaboration, and achievements during the programme. The ceremony marked the end of a productive, inspiring, and internationally connected learning experience.

As International Balkan University, we extend our sincere congratulations to all participants and our heartfelt thanks to our partner institutions, professors, and students for making this Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme a meaningful success.
