The course goal is to provide understanding of database systems. The course will focus on the fundamental concepts of database management with the thoroughness and attention to detail. Database query languages, schema design, database application development, database internals, data analysis and database mining will be covered. Introduction to database systems; Relational models; SQL; Database design process; The entity-relationship approach; Relational database design; Application design; Object-based databases; XML; Data storage and querying; Transaction management; Data analysis; Data mining.
