Presently, with the development of the latest methods, techniques, and software solutions as well as the increasing use of innovative technologies, Structural engineering has been developing and rising as one of the essential branches for the development of every society.
In the frame of this discipline, there are several sub-disciplines that include the design and construction of residential buildings, administrative and business centers, public buildings, industrial facilities, skyscrapers, bridges, and other infrastructure systems, implementation of static and dynamic, linear and nonlinear analysis of structures, repair, and strengthening of structures, seismic design and seismic protection of structures, foundation structures, and soil-structure interaction.
Structural engineering includes both analytical and experimental studies and tests of models of structures, whose results contribute to finding more modern, more optimal, more durable, and more reliable as well as less costly structural solutions.
The purpose of the studies is to (1) provide efficient education of future engineers - masters in structural engineering, whose expertise and knowledge will correspond to the developmental needs of the whole Balkan region and Europe and who, in accordance with their professional and ethical responsibility, will be able to make decisions that will have influence at both local and global level; (2) provide efficient education in the field of advanced analysis of structures, advanced design of new structures in high-rise and low-rise construction, as well as repair and rehabilitation of existing structures and historic monuments and (3) acquire new knowledge and values in the field of structural engineering through applicative and developmental research.
