ENG 302 Literature and Language Teaching I; Weekly hours: 2+1, ECTS: 5
The course looks into ways of incorporating literature into the English language class. We will explore all aspects of teaching literature as a means of reinforcing grammatical structures, vocabulary building and expansion, understanding and comprehending of nuances and multiple layers of meanings in literary texts. Also, we will focus on literature as content, contributing to students’ personal growth and expansion of general knowledge. The course examines the techniques and strategies of proper selection of poems, plays, short stories and parts of novels, and surveys the literary theories and the techniques of practical criticism and interpretation on various types of literary texts.
