The first issue of the International Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Art and Communication, a joint publication of the Faculty of Art and Design and the Faculty of Communications at International Balkan University is now published online.

The Journal has an international editorial board, it is peer-reviewed and it is published twice a year.

International Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Art and Communication (IJISAC) “Balkan Art Today” is a peer-reviewed scientific journal published twice a year. This scientific journal is adapted to the standards of scientific publications and publishes works that contribute to the knowledge of the humanities, but also those that have an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary character. The works in the journal “Balkan Art Today” should be thematically focused on the area of the art and other related disciplines and encourage mutual dialogue between experts in the humanities. Papers can be based on quantitative and qualitative research, and papers that focus on different levels of research (individual cases, smaller and larger samples) are accepted. Only unpublished works are accepted.

IJISAC “Balkan Art Today” also publishes original research, creative work, and critical discourse on traditional, contemporary, and popular issues in arts and issues in the field of interdisciplinary studies. Contribution can be in the form of conceptual or theoretical approaches, case studies, or essays in the field of humanities and communications. Contributions in the field of arts may include artists’ writings, critical essays, historical documentation, interviews, performance texts and plays, and book review.

The journal is relevant to social researchers, artists, curators, writers, theorists, and policymakers with an interest in, and concern for, art practice, art theory and research, and other humanities issues in any of its forms and in any of its sites. This is an academic journal and thus does not provide any kind of art appraisals or other commercial services.

Yet, it is dedicated to topics from the fields of modern and contemporary art, urbanism, architecture, and design, ranging from dealing with specific phenomena to discussing relevant issues at the theoretical level. Only original scientific articles are considered for publication. In addition to scientific texts, the editorial board reserves the right to publish accompanying contents of a professional nature in the journal: reviews of current events, book reviews, interviews, etc.
