THE UNIVERSITY RECOGNIZES THE COMPLEXITIES OF EXAM PREPARATION AND IS DEDICATED TO AIDING STUDENTS THROUGH THIS PERIOD
Regardless of whether your anxieties about exams are individual or common among students, our objective is to assist you in overcoming these obstacles effectively. Our aspiration is for you to come out of your exams feeling assured and pleased with the work you've put in. This service has been designed together with the Counselling and Psychological Service, in harmony with the University's campaign for student welfare.
REVISION PLANNING
Streamlined Revision Planning
Key to effective revision is structured planning. We are aware that for some of our students, it can be difficult to prepare effective revision during the exam preparation process, requiring planning and discipline. Instead of making last-minute revisions, it is better to plan to revise early. We try to guide our students through a number of steps to be successful in their exams. In this way, they will ensure realistic time management through self-control.
Undertake a review
Students meticulously review the curriculum of their course subjects and conduct an assessment of their present proficiency in each area. They critically appraise the extent of their understanding in these subjects, assessing the extent of their knowledge base, determining if it's solid, needs enhancement, or lies somewhere in between.
Available audit time for revision
Some individuals really benefit from putting their schedules down on paper—it helps them see exactly what they’re up against and plan their time better. After getting their exam schedules, they whip up a weekly plan. This isn’t just about the exams; it also makes room for fun stuff, working out, and all the other important things they need to fit in.

READINESS TACTICS
For certain students, the exam in its own right acts as a trigger for nervousness, whereas for others, the main reason for anxiety during exams is not knowing which questions will be asked. Some are simply uneasy about the entire examination procedure. With this in mind, it is advised to explore the Self-Help Resources HUB and Tools available on the IBU website. Additionally, to alleviate exam stress, techniques like breathwork, mindfulness meditation, or yoga may prove to be helpful.
EXAM PRACTICE AND EXAM ORIENTATION SESSIONS
In the third week of the upcoming semester, we will be hosting in-person mock exams for students involved in this study, aiming to lessen their exam-related anxiety. Enrollment for these trial exams is by reservation only. This initiative provides students with a valuable opportunity to familiarize themselves with the exam environment, understand the examination protocols, and rehearse handling various aspects of the exam process, including the opportunity to raise any queries they may have about the conduct of the exams.
FURTHER LESSONS FROM PSYCHOLOGY
The main goal will be to provide students with effective psychological techniques to manage the pressures associated with exams. The concept of visualization will be introduced, recommending that students mentally rehearse entering the exam venue calmly and confidently. It will also stress the significance of positive self-dialogue, comparing it to a nurturing relationship between a teacher and a student. The use of motivational 'trigger words' during exams will be advised to maintain a focused and positive mindset. Additionally, it will suggest focusing on specific, immediate tasks as a method to divert attention from anxiety-induced negative thoughts. Establishing certain rituals before exams, such as listening to specific music or having a particular meal, will be recommended to create a sense of control.
PHYSICAL CARE
This segment will encompass a variety of activities and suggestions emphasizing the significance of sustaining a balanced lifestyle for students. This includes ensuring sufficient rest, consuming a nutritious diet, and engaging in regular exercise to achieve the best possible physical and mental health.
