PSY 303 – Health Psychology and Counseling; Weekly hours: 2+1, ECTS: 4
The goal of this course is to bridge biology, psychology and sociology and to introduce students to both perspectives (bio psychological and psycho sociological), the perspective of the patient and the practitioner in terms of the perception of disease prevention, medical education, interventions, and overcoming stress, and to provide counseling to patients in all stages and in relation to all aspects of the disease. The course includes the following themes: Introduction to Health Psychology, beliefs related to health / illness, communication doctor / patient, smoking, drinking, diet and exercise, sexuality, screening, stress and stress diseases, pain and placebo, obesity and coronary disease, HIV and cancer, assessment of health status and quality of life, counseling in each area.
