TUR 404 Theatre and drama in education

TUR 404 Theatre and drama in education; Weekly hours: 2+1, ECTS: 6
This course is designed to develop artistic perception, creative expression, and aesthetic valuing; to develop the ability to connect and apply what is learned in drama to language context. In this course, students will learn how to do warm-ups, improvisations, monologues and role-plays. Much of the course content will be studied through active, hands-on projects. Course Contents: Historical background of drama, drama and language teaching, warm-ups, improvisation exercises, non-verbal and verbal exercises: mime and gesture, story-telling, drama techniques for the teaching of vocabulary and grammar, drama techniques for the teaching of cultural studies and literature, personal and social learning through drama, drama conventions: teacher-in-role, pretexts for process drama.
