We continue to strengthen our academic contribution to the shared historical and cultural heritage of the Balkans through the exhibition and book promotion program titled The Collection of Coins Minted in Skopje and Kratovo (14th–17th Centuries) – The Journey of Money, which we proudly supported and introduced to the public at the historic Čifte Hammam in Skopje’s Old Turkish Bazaar. Organized under the auspices of the Skopje Yunus Emre Institute and in cooperation with our university, Halkbank, and the Governorship of Edirne, the program brought together scholarship, cultural preservation, and public engagement by focusing on Ottoman-era coins minted in Skopje and Kratovo between the fourteenth and seventeenth centuries, highlighting their significance as tangible witnesses of regional history.

Through this event, we introduced both the exhibition curated by Daniela Nikolova and the accompanying academic volume published by Balkan University Press, our university’s publishing house. The book examines Ottoman-era coins preserved in the collections of the Museum of North Macedonia from numismatic and historical perspectives, reinforcing our commitment to producing and disseminating high-quality scholarly work that fills important gaps in written history. By supporting a bilingual publication and an accessible exhibition format, we reaffirmed our mission to make academic knowledge available to wider audiences while contributing to the preservation of shared cultural memory through rigorous and responsible research.

The program was honored by the participation of the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Skopje, Fatih Ulusoy, our Rector Lütfi Sunar, the Director of the Skopje Yunus Emre Institute Yunus Dilber, and the General Manager of Halkbank Skopje Fatih Şahbaz, alongside academics, institutional representatives, and distinguished guests. We value these multi-stakeholder collaborations as a reflection of our institutional vision to strengthen cultural ties between Türkiye and North Macedonia, to transmit shared heritage to future generations through scientific publications, and to continue advancing meaningful academic initiatives that reinforce our role as an internationally engaged and socially responsible university.
