We proudly concluded the third and final day of the workshop entitled “The Importance of Insurance: From Theory to Regulatory Practice,” held at BISTLAB | Balkan Economy and Finance Laboratory, reinforcing our commitment to delivering practice-oriented education and fostering active student engagement. The program began with an insightful session on the Legal Framework of Insurance in North Macedonia, delivered by MSc Biljana Janevska Nedelkovska, Coordinator of the Department for Regulation and Licensing at the Insurance Supervision Agency. Through this session, we provided our students with a comprehensive understanding of the national regulatory environment, including key legislative provisions, licensing procedures, ongoing harmonization with European standards, and the growing importance of actuarial training within the sector.
We continued the program with an interactive group workshop designed to strengthen analytical thinking, creativity, and the practical application of knowledge. Guided by Ratka Celakovski, Coordinator of the Unit for Research and Development at the Insurance Supervision Agency, and Asst. Prof. Elena Parnardzieva Stanoevska, Coordinator of BISTLAB, our students collaborated in teams to develop consumer awareness campaigns based on simulated insurance scenarios. This dynamic session encouraged critical reflection on the roles of insurance companies and regulatory authorities, while fostering a productive exchange between academic knowledge and real-world practice. Through their presentations, our students demonstrated a strong ability to engage with complex market challenges and propose innovative, socially responsible solutions.
We concluded the workshop with closing remarks delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Liza Alili Sulejmani, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Mr. Goran Zdravkovski, Executive Member of the Council of Experts at the Insurance Supervision Agency, and Ms. Aleksandra Drangovska, Member of the Council of Experts. The program also included the formal distribution of awards and gifts in recognition of the active participation and dedication of our students. This successful three-day workshop once again highlighted the importance of bridging theoretical knowledge with regulatory practice, and we extend our sincere gratitude to the Insurance Supervision Agency of North Macedonia for its valuable collaboration and continued support in co-organizing this impactful initiative.
